Dark Matter
The series Dark Matter was begun at an isolated residency in rural Missouri in January of 2020. These paintings, all gouache on black Arches, 30" x 22" began in response to a personal crises, but have evolved to address our current collective crises. This series has grown to 29 paintings and become a collaboration with the physicist and poet Agnes Vojta. Agnes is writing one poem for each painting in the collection. This collaboration is scheduled to be exhibited at The Smalter Gallery in Kansas City, October of 2021 (Covid safety allowing). Dark Matter is the largest single volume of anything in the universe. We know that it exists, but can only theorize as to it's actual nature. Evidence that knowledge and understanding are at times seperate.
